The CHAPTER internal speaker seminar series features monthly breakfast meetings from 09:00 to 10:00 with tea, coffee and fresh fruit provided. The meetings are generally hosted jointly between clinical and non-clinical areas.
The format of the series is two 20-minute presentations followed by 10-minute discussion. The seminars are held in the Lecture Theatre, B17, at 1-19 Torrington Place on the last Tuesday each month.
The purpose of series is to:
- facilitate the exchange of information between researchers (from doctoral students to senior researchers)
- learn about ongoing research
- identify areas of overlap and ultimately encourage collaborations
- give the opportunity to researchers to hone their oral presentation skills in front of a friendly audience, as well as facilitate social interaction between CHAPTER researchers.
Meetings are meant to be informal presentations about research in progress (as opposed to ‘finished stories’), where researchers can also talk if appropriate about ‘negative results’ and experimental problems.
